Euglossa is a genus of orchid bees, belonging to the tribe Euglossini within the Apidae family. These bees are known for their remarkable beauty, with many species exhibiting vibrant, metallic colors such as blue, green, coppery, or golden. The genus is native to the Neotropical regions, spanning from southern Mexico to northern Argentina, including Brazil, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and parts of the Caribbean. There is also an introduced population of Euglossa species in Florida, USA, particularly the species Euglossa dilemma.
Unique Morphology and Behavior
